A Fukujuen restock is a grade returning to its global store after it sold out. Fukujuen is one of the older houses we track, established in 1790, and it sells its own matcha worldwide from a store that says every product ships directly from Japan. Its collection is large, 24 products, so on any given day most grades are available while a few are not, which makes tracking different from the single-bottleneck brands in this series. Figures are from October 10, 2026.

What is in Fukujuen's matcha lineup?

The collection mixes ceremonial grades with a stone-milled range. The ceremonial names include Kotobuki-no-Shiro, Seijin no Shiro, Eisho-no-Mukashi, Banjo-no-Mukashi and Matcha Zuien, and the stone-milled Shiro, Syu and Kuro tins start at ¥4,800, ¥9,600 and ¥19,200, with sizes not shown on the collection page. There are also matcha powder sticks, 10 single-serve bags for ¥2,700. The store's matcha page lists 24 products in total. Fukujuen's history and flagship shops are covered on its brand page.

What does each Fukujuen grade cost?

The table lists the grades whose sizes the page states, with the yen cost per gram. The range is wide: Kotobuki-no-Shiro costs about ¥72 per gram, Eisho-no-Mukashi ¥180 at 20 g, Banjo-no-Mukashi ¥270 and Matcha Zuien ¥360. Larger sizes are cheaper per gram, by about 12 percent for Eisho-no-Mukashi between the 20 g and 200 g sizes and about 10 percent for Banjo-no-Mukashi between 20 g and 100 g. Prices are in yen, so the dollar cost moves with the exchange rate.

How do you know a Fukujuen grade is in stock?

Open the product page. The collection page I checked reported collection totals only, 23 in stock and 4 out of stock, and the page did not label which products were out. That means a grade can be unavailable without the list showing it. Fukujuen announces no restock dates. Demand for premium Japanese matcha has outrun supply during the shortage, as reported by NBC News, so even a large house sees some lines sell through.

With 24 products, you rarely need to go without. If your first-choice grade is out, the next size up or the neighbouring grade, such as Eisho-no-Mukashi next to Banjo-no-Mukashi, is usually listed.

Which Fukujuen grades should you alert for?

Alert on the grade you drink most, plus one fallback. For everyday whisked tea, Kotobuki-no-Shiro and Seijin no Shiro are the lowest-priced 20 g cans. For a step up, Eisho-no-Mukashi has three sizes, so you can buy a small can first and a larger one once you like it. For a special occasion, Banjo-no-Mukashi and Matcha Zuien are the higher-priced 20 g cans. The stone-milled Kuro, at ¥19,200 and up, was the highest-priced tin on the page I could see.

How do you catch a Fukujuen restock?

Create an account on global.fukujuen.com, save your address and payment, then let an alert watch the product pages. Matcha Alert Club tracks Fukujuen's global store and its Ujicha Matcha listings and posts the product, price and link to our Discord when a tracked grade is available again, with email, Telegram and web push also available. Because the store reports only collection totals, an alert saves you opening 24 product pages by hand.

FAQ

Does Fukujuen ship matcha internationally?

Yes. Its global store states that all products are shipped directly from Japan, shows prices in yen with a currency selector, and says taxes and shipping are calculated at checkout. It does not state free-shipping thresholds on the collection page. Import duties and taxes charged by your country are extra, so check the checkout total.

How much does Fukujuen matcha cost?

On October 10, 2026, 20 g cans ranged from ¥1,440 (Kotobuki-no-Shiro) and ¥1,800 (Seijin no Shiro) to ¥3,600 (Eisho-no-Mukashi), ¥5,400 (Banjo-no- Mukashi) and ¥7,200 (Matcha Zuien). Larger sizes cost less per gram: Eisho- no-Mukashi falls from ¥180 per gram at 20 g to about ¥158 at 200 g. The stone-milled tins start at ¥4,800.

Is Fukujuen matcha in stock?

Mostly, according to the collection page's filter on October 10, 2026, which reported 23 products in stock and 4 out of stock. The page showed only some of the 24 products and gave no per-product label, so I cannot say which four were out. Open the product page for the grade you want before assuming it is available.

When was Fukujuen founded?

In 1790 (Kansei 2), by Iyemon Fukui, according to its own history page, as a tea merchant in Kamikoma, now part of Kizugawa City in Kyoto Prefecture. It incorporated in 1949 and opened its first direct store at Kyoto Station in 1952. Its Shijo Tominokoji flagship in Kyoto has a tea room and offers custom blending.

When does Fukujuen restock matcha?

It does not publish a schedule or announce restocks. The store lists the products and prices, and a grade that sells out returns when the company decides. With a large collection of 24 products, a single grade can be out while others are in stock, so alert on two or three grades instead of waiting on one.
