A Nakamura Tokichi restock is a sold-out grade reappearing on the company's global store. Nakamura Tokichi traces its start to 1854 in Uji and, unlike houses that sell abroad only through partners, runs its own worldwide online shop. That makes tracking simpler than for brands with no direct channel, but the shop gives few stock signals, so you have to open product pages to learn what is available. Figures below come from the store on October 10, 2026.

Does Nakamura Tokichi sell matcha directly to overseas customers?

Yes. The global store lists matcha with prices in yen, taxes included, and discounts and shipping worked out at checkout. It lists about 20 matcha products in total, from 30 g cans for everyday tea to 100 g bags and small-batch premium tins. A store-locator page also lists the company's shops in Japan, and importers carry the brand elsewhere, as covered in our where-to-buy guide. Because every order ships from Japan, expect import duties on delivery.

What does each Nakamura Tokichi grade cost?

The table gives the 30 g cans and 100 g bags with the yen cost per gram. Ukishima-no-Shiro is the cheapest at about ¥61 per gram, while Uji-no-Mukashi costs about ¥300 per gram, nearly five times as much. The bags are better value: the Starter bag works out to about ¥65 per gram, close to the cheapest can. The premium Hatsu-Mukashi No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 tins, sold in 20 g cans at ¥55,556, ¥41,667 and ¥27,778, are a different category again, at roughly ¥1,389 to ¥2,778 per gram.

How do you know if a grade is in stock?

Open its product page. The collection page I checked showed prices but no sold-out labels, so it cannot tell you what is available, and it names no restock dates. Nakamura Tokichi does not announce restocks, and its small-batch tins are the likeliest to run out. Demand across premium Uji matcha has outrun supply in the global shortage, as reported by NBC News. Note that yen prices mean the dollar cost moves with the exchange rate.

If a grade shows as unavailable, check the neighbouring grades. Hiroha-no-Shiro, Seikan-no-Shiro and Senun-no-Shiro all cost ¥3,130 per 30 g can, so a sold-out one has two same-priced alternatives next to it.

Which Nakamura Tokichi grades should you alert for?

Choose by how you drink it. For daily usucha, alert for Ukishima-no-Shiro and Fuji-no-Shiro. For a richer ceremonial grade, alert for Sho-no-Mukashi at ¥3,658. For koicha, the grades to watch are Hatsu-no-Mukashi, Jingai-no-Mukashi and Uji-no-Mukashi, between ¥6,463 and ¥9,000 per 30 g can. Alerting on two or three grades means you can still order something if your first choice is gone. For tasting notes and grade tiers, see our Nakamura Tokichi grades guide and Ippodo vs Nakamura Tokichi.

What is the easiest way to catch a restock?

Make an account on the global store, save your address and payment, then let an alert watch the product pages for you. Matcha Alert Club tracks the global store and posts the product, price and link to our Discord when a tracked grade becomes available, with email, Telegram and web push as options. It tells you that stock is live, and the saved details are what let you check out while it is. Live status is on the Nakamura Tokichi brand page.

FAQ

Does Nakamura Tokichi ship matcha internationally?

Yes. Its global store at global.tokichi.jp sells the matcha range with prices in yen and says taxes are included while discounts and shipping are calculated at checkout. Import duties and customs fees are charged by your own country, so budget above the listed price when you order from outside Japan.

When does Nakamura Tokichi restock matcha?

It does not publish a schedule or announce restocks. The collection page shows no stock labels at all, so you only learn that a grade is sold out when you open its product page. Treat small-batch grades such as the premium Hatsu-Mukashi tins as the likeliest to sell out, and rely on an alert rather than a calendar.

How much does Nakamura Tokichi matcha cost?

On October 10, 2026 the 30 g cans ran from ¥1,834 for Ukishima-no-Shiro and ¥2,297 for Fuji-no-Shiro to ¥3,658 for Sho-no-Mukashi, ¥6,463 for Hatsu-no- Mukashi and ¥9,000 for Uji-no-Mukashi. The 100 g bags cost less per gram, from ¥6,463 for the Starter bag to ¥22,000 for the Premium bag.

Which Nakamura Tokichi matcha is best to start with?

For everyday whisked tea, start with Ukishima-no-Shiro or Fuji-no-Shiro, the two cheapest 30 g cans at about ¥61 and ¥77 per gram. The Starter 100 g bag at about ¥65 per gram suits lattes and baking. Move up to Sho-no-Mukashi only once you want a richer ceremonial grade.

Is there a purchase limit on Nakamura Tokichi matcha?

The collection page states none, and it shows no per-customer cap. That can change during demand spikes, so confirm on the product page and at checkout. Buy for your own use: a smaller can you finish within weeks keeps better than a stockpile, since matcha loses freshness with time, heat and light.
