The Story of Uogashi Meicha
Uogashi Meicha's official history says the company was founded in 1931 by Tadashi Tsuchiya, the company's president from two generations ago. Its main store is in Tsukiji, Tokyo, and it also has stores in Ginza, Toyosu and Shinjuku (Isetan). The company specialises in deep-steamed Japanese green tea, grows tea on its own plantation, blends the leaves in-house and holds study sessions with its farmers. Its stated aim is to make unique teas rather than appeal to every taste.

Uogashi Meicha sells matcha on its own tea shop, teashop.uogashi-meicha.co.jp, which on 10 October 2026 listed Ko-to-no-ha Gold organic matcha (15 g, ¥7,500), Ko-to-no-ha Silver organic (15 g, ¥5,500), ChaGinza Matcha (15 g, ¥5,500) and Uogashi Matcha En (150 g, ¥11,000). The page did not show stock status or overseas shipping terms. Yunomi also lists Uogashi Meicha matcha, and its three matcha listings were sold out when we checked.
