A Yamamasa Koyamaen restock is a partner shop listing one of the company's matcha grades again after it sold out. Yamamasa Koyamaen is a family tea maker in Uji, Kyoto, founded in 1861, and it does not run an international online shop, so outside Japan every restock happens at a different retailer on a different day. This guide covers where the tins are sold, what limits apply, and how to avoid refreshing five sold-out pages by hand, based on shop pages checked on October 10, 2026.

Where can you buy Yamamasa Koyamaen matcha outside Japan?

Only through partners. The company's English site says exports are handled by its trading partners in your region, and in most cases it refrains from doing direct business with overseas companies. In practice that means specialty tea retailers. Sazen Tea lists 11 Yamamasa Koyamaen matcha grades, The Steeping Room carries Samidori in 30g cans, 100g bags and 150g cans. Matcha Alert Club tracks Sazen Tea, The Steeping Room, Koyamaen Matcha, Five Elements Home, Ujicha Matcha, matchajp.net and J-J Market for this brand.

Can you buy from the official Japanese shop?

Only if you are in Japan, or can receive parcels there. Yamamasa Koyamaen runs a Japanese-language online shop that sells matcha, gift sets and sweets. Its notice says some 30g matcha cans resumed sale after a pause, that matcha has a purchase cap, and that each customer may place one order per week, with extra orders cancelled automatically. It also refuses delivery to forwarding companies' warehouses and to hotels, which closes the usual proxy-shipping route. The page does not state overseas delivery, so do not plan around it.

How often does Yamamasa Koyamaen restock?

Nobody outside the company knows, and it does not publish a schedule. Restocks depend on how much each partner shop receives from Japan, so one retailer can be sold out of Samidori while another has cans. Older advice that the brand restocks "every four to six weeks" has no primary source behind it, and you should discount it. What the shop pages do show is the pattern around it: tight supply, purchase limits and prices being revised upward in 2026, in line with the wider matcha shortage reported by NBC News.

Samidori is the grade most likely to be sold out. If the grade you want is gone everywhere, Ogurayama and Matsukaze are the nearest usucha alternatives in the same lineup, and they are often in stock when Samidori is not.

Which Yamamasa Koyamaen grades are worth targeting?

Choose before an alert fires. The table shows Sazen Tea's prices on October 10, 2026 and the cost per gram when you buy the 100 g bag. Matsukaze and Samidori are the cheapest ways in, at about $0.42 and $0.52 per gram. Ogurayama sits in the middle of the usucha range, and the koicha line climbs steeply to $5.40 per gram for Chajyu no Mukashi. Larger bags cost less per gram, but only buy what you will finish within weeks of opening.

What limits do the shops put on an order?

Expect one or two tins. The Steeping Room states that it has to limit Samidori to one per customer, and the company's own Japanese shop allows one order per week per customer. Sazen Tea advertises free shipping on carts over $150, which tempts people to stock up, but a restock rarely lasts long enough for a large cart. Buy for your own use. Orders that look like resale are the ones shops cancel, and a single tin you can finish within weeks stays fresher than a stockpile.

Is it safe to buy Yamamasa Koyamaen from eBay or resellers?

It is riskier than a specialty shop. Listings from Japan-based eBay sellers show these tins for international delivery, but the sellers are not named partners, and eBay warns that import duties, taxes and brokerage fees may be charged on delivery. Storage conditions are unknown too, and matcha degrades with heat and light. If a partner shop has the grade, buy there. Use eBay only after checking seller feedback and comparing the per-gram price with the retailer lists above.

How do you set up a watch across seven shops?

Because there is no single store to check, treat it as a short list. Pick two or three grades you would accept, for example Samidori, Ogurayama and Matsukaze. Create an account at each partner shop and save your address and card, since limits of one per customer leave no time to type. Then let an alert do the watching: Matcha Alert Club tracks Sazen Tea, The Steeping Room, Koyamaen Matcha, Five Elements Home, Ujicha Matcha, matchajp.net and J-J Market for this brand, and posts the product, price and link to our Discord when a tracked grade is listed again. Email, Telegram and web push also work. Current stock is on the Yamamasa Koyamaen brand page, and tasting notes are in our Yamamasa Koyamaen guide.

FAQ

Does Yamamasa Koyamaen ship matcha internationally?

Not directly. The English site says exports to countries outside Japan are handled by trading partners in each region and that the company mostly refrains from direct business with overseas companies. Its Japanese online shop does not state overseas delivery and refuses forwarding-warehouse addresses, so international buyers use partner retailers such as Sazen Tea or The Steeping Room.

When does Yamamasa Koyamaen restock?

There is no published schedule. The company's Japanese shop announced that some 30g matcha cans had resumed sale after a pause, but restocks at overseas partner shops depend on each shop's own shipments from Japan. Treat any claimed fixed interval, such as every few weeks, as unverified and rely on an alert instead of a calendar.

Why is Samidori always sold out?

Samidori is the entry-priced Uji single-cultivar grade, so it draws the most demand at the lowest cost, and partner shops hold limited quantities. The Steeping Room listed all Samidori sizes as sold out on October 10, 2026, and caps the grade at one per customer. Demand across premium Japanese matcha has outrun supply during the global matcha boom.

Is it safe to buy Yamamasa Koyamaen on eBay?

It can work but carries risk. Many eBay listings are from individual sellers in Japan, not authorized partners, and eBay itself warns that international purchases may add customs, duties and brokerage fees at delivery. Check the seller's feedback and storage photos, compare the per-gram price against partner shops, and prefer a specialty retailer when one has the grade in stock.

What does Yamamasa Koyamaen matcha cost?

On Sazen Tea's listing on October 10, 2026, 30g cans ranged from $14.04 for Matsukaze and $17.28 for Samidori to $28.08 for Ogurayama and $162.00 for the top koicha Chajyu no Mukashi. Larger 100g bags and 150g cans cost less per gram. Prices vary by shop and the company said 2026 market prices are forcing some price revisions.
